Fiber Ordering & Payment 

     Fibers from our own flock of Sheep and Angora Goats at The Black Sheep Fiber Farm are priced by the ounce and by the pound, the cost depending upon the animal from which the Fiber comes, and the extent of the processing involved.  Please e-mail or phone your questions and desires - inventory and colors vary and are sometimes more easily explained than illustrated. Selected Fiber Color samples are usually available by mail for $5.00.  Payment for Fiber purchases may be made by credit card on the phone, or by mailed check with time allowed for bank clearance, or in person at the Farm.  Shipping is always available at additional cost.

     Photos of Fibers can be e-mailed, but color discrepances might occur.  A Farm visit is always welcome, in order for the Artisan to best evaluate the colors and quality attributes of the processed fibers at The Black Sheep Fiber Farm.  A color chart appears near the bottom of this page which lists some of the descriptive colors available using vegetable and commercial dyes. Natural Fibers Available

MOHAIR is available RAW,WASHED, or CARDED into Roving or Rolags, and can be had from ADULT, YEARLING, or KID goats. Available in natural color and in selected vegetable dyes. Priced by the finished pound.  Click photo corner to enlarge.

WOOL is available RAW, WASHED, or CARDED into Roving or Rolags. Natural wool colors include Chocolate, Brindle, Cinnamon, Silver, Dark Charcoal, Frosted, Gray, Black and White.  Vegetable dyes produce greens, yellow, gold, browns, and blues. Lock Fibers for Doll Wigs & Santa Beards

MOHAIR:

• Kid Locks: 3 to 5 inch long staple - the finest and best fiber produced in the lifetime of an Angora goat.  Natural dyes result in these colors available: light red, pale yellow, black (not shown), and natural white. $4.00 per 1/2 ounce. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

      

• Yearling Locks: 4 to 6 inch staple, natural curls & waves. Natural and Vegetable dyes create pale yellow over dyed commercial turquoise, orange, yellow (lady's bed straw).  $4.00 per 1/2 ounce. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WOOL:

• Lincoln Long Wool: Natural Colored Locks, 6 to 10 inch lengths - Silver, Brown, Gray, and White. Natural curls, hand washed and finger combed, ready for use.  $4.00 per 1/2 ounce.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

      

• Lincoln Long Wool: Vegetable or Commercial Dyed Locks, 6 to 12 inch lengths, curly, hand washed, hand dyed, finger combed, ready for use.  $4.00 per 1/2 ounce. (See Wool Color Chart below).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• Locks For Wild Things: (Or for other creative uses). Wool Locks, 6 to 10 inch lengths, unusual and interesting shade variations and tones of color in each package. Please ask, we're sure we have something you'll want. $5.00 per 1/2 oz. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• Registered Lincoln Long Wool, from Prince Romeo: - 14 month shearing - Hogget Fleece, gently washed, locks 12 to 18 inches long. Natural Silver Gray curl, finger combed, ready for use.  $6.00 per 1/2 ounce.

• Skin Tone Wool: Hand dyed and mechanically Blended for realistic skin colors to use in Needle Felting or Fiber Spinning. Illustrated in 2 ounce packets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• Felted Wool Sheets: 3 ft x 4 ft sheets, in Natural and many colors. Good for quilting, wall hangings, upholstery padding. One pound.  $35.00 per sheet.

 

• Pre-Felts: Sheets of 2 1/2 ounce lightly needle felted Wool, great for cutting and  shaping, or for cut-outs. 18 inches square.  $10.00 per sheet.                             
  

 

 

• Fiber Saxs - Unique Fiber blends and colors in small lots, housed in their own zipper bag, ready for spinning or felting.  Just right for all those small projects (i.e. socks, mittens, hats). Colors and fibers vary, so please ask about availability.  4oz. = $6.00,  5oz. = $7.50,  6oz. = $9.00,  8oz. = $12.00    Illustrations are of 8 oz. of fiber.
