Fireside, or Boot Socks, hand knit in worsted weight yarn from handspun Wool might
also be called garden socks, because their color, if not from the sheep, is from the dye producing plants grown in the garden or gleaned from the fields. These socks were the culmination of a summer's work, yielding much fun and great colors. For extra warmth and cushioning, there is lots of bulk and texture in the patterns.
Woodchopper Mittens are for warm hands and outdoor chores and activities. A single worsted cuff is joined by a second worsted yarn to knit from wrist to finger tips, forming a dense double knit fabric that sheds moisture and keeps fingers toasty.
Gently hand wash hand knitted garments using a mild detergent and warm water. After a thorough rinse, blot with a towel to remove excessive moisture, and lay flat to dry.
# 32 Fireside Socks, handspun and hand knit of one ply white tussah Silk and one ply Wool which
had been dyed with the garden plant Yarrow, in a ratio of 50% Silk, 50% Wool. Silk stripes
and a dutch heal pattern can be shown off when worn in open-backed shoes. Size 6-8.

# 39 Fireside Socks, handspun and hand knit of natural gray Wool with a wee bit of Angel Hair acrylic
drizzled in to produce a sparkle. The accent stripes come from the garden plant Tanzy with an
over-dye of commercial green. Glittery feet will make you want to dance. Size 9-11.
